Frustrated Superradiant Phase Transition
JC Zhao, Myung-Joong Hwang
Frustration is an interesting phenomenon in spin physics, where the system cannot minimize its energy due to conflicting constraints. We show that the order parameters during a superradiant phase transition can also be frustrated. This can lead to many exotic critical behaviors, such as the emergence of two diverging time scales.

Anomalous multicritical phenomena and frustration induced by synthetic magnetic fields
JC Zhao, Myung-Joong Hwang
We identify an anomalous superradiant phase transition in the synthetic magnetic field. Due to the breaking of the time-reversal symmetry, the system can exhibit a series of first-order transitions when we tune the magnetic flux. Moreover, the system has novel behaviors in the normal phase, such as a bounded photon number, in contrast to the divergent photon number in other superradiant phase transitions.

Embedded inertial sensor for tracking projectile impact on granular media
Stefan Köstler, JC Zhao, Chen Lyu, Simeon Völkel and Kai Huang
Using inertial measurement units embedded in a projectile, we obtain the trajectory of the projectile impacting on a granular medium under microgravity. In addition to standard algorithms for trajectory reconstruction, we emphasize solutions to various sources of error to determine projectile trajectory accurately.
The Trajectory of Quantum Computation in China
JC Zhao, Edessa Sahin, Hangyang Zhou, Yihuan Wang, Grigory Shutko
We investigate the current forum workstreams and future expansion plans of global quantum computing networks in Greater China by investigating the related stakeholders: public, private, and academic.
