I am a PhD student in Applied Physics at Yale University, supervised by Dr. Logan Wright. My research interest lies in quantum optics, quantum information and neural networks. Previously, I was a dual-degree undergraduate student at Duke Kunshan University and Duke University, supervised by Dr. Myungjoong Hwang.

Frustrated Superradiant Phase Transition

Frustration is an interesting phenomenon in spin physics, where the system cannot minimize its energy due to conflicting constraints. We show that the order parameters during a superradiant phase transition can also become frustrated. This can lead to many exotic critical behaviors, such as the emergence of two diverging time scales.

Anomalous criticality with bounded fluctuations and long-range frustration induced by broken time-reversal symmetry

We identify an anomalous superradiant phase transition in a synthetic magnetic field. Due to the breaking of time-reversal symmetry, the system can exhibit a series of first-order transitions as we tune the magnetic flux. Moreover, the system displays novel behaviors in the normal phase, such as a bounded photon number, in contrast to the divergent photon number observed in other superradiant phase transitions.
